A friend told me recently that a disco ball is just a million broken pieces put back together to create something beautiful for the betterment of everyone in its orbit.
That stuck with me.
We spend so much time trying to hide the cracks. The mistakes, the pivots, the heartbreaks, the flaws. We put makeup on, curate our social media feeds, wear Spanx. We keep things to ourselves or pretend everything is fine.
But the broken bits aren't shameful. They're essential.
A disco ball doesn't shine in spite of its brokenness. It shines because of it.
Those tiny shards throw joy across the room. They inspire dancing. Together.
Maybe your past year has been messy, like mine. Maybe you're having an “off” era. Maybe you just need a nap.
Don't hide. Show up. Let your light spin around a bit.
Go on. Be the disco ball.
