Reality check.
You have the idea. The vision. You know exactly what needs to happen. You know what would push things forward.
Then the excuses start rolling in.
Now is not the time.
You’re understaffed. You’re about to start a new product launch or new EMR or add a new service. Something heavy is happening in your personal life.
Once you get past this one thing, things will settle down and you will have time for that new idea.
Right? I’ve been saying that for the past 7 years.
Except, things don’t settle. New problems pop up. Products get delayed. A couple of months becomes six months. Six months becomes a year.
And you’re still in the same spot. Same idea. But now you feel guilt and failure when you think about it.
Successful people don’t say yes only when they aren’t busy.
They say yes in spite of being busy because they know it’s now or never.
You need to become an American Bison. When a storm is coming, they move toward the storm. In doing so, they pass through it more quickly. They are built for tough weather. They move as a herd because they know staying together as a group, relying on their “colleagues”, makes them stronger.
You know what you need to do. Will you keep waiting for a time when things aren’t so “crazy”? Or will you start now, in the middle of chaos?
Successful people don't wait for the perfect moment. They charge ahead.
You are built for tough weather.
Right now I’m in a season of “white-knuckling” it. Fun fact – I rode a bull many years ago (yes, a real one, in a real rodeo), and all I could think about was jumping off at the right time.
So far, 2025 and 2026 feel like I'm riding a bull. I deal with it by compartmentalizing. Focusing on one project at a time throughout the day. I try not to even look at what is on the agenda for tomorrow because that will only distract me.
Charge that storm. Hold on tight. Rely on the people around you.
