Our profession lost a true ICON recently.
I first knew Hal through his collaboration with Amerx Health Care (where I got my start in podiatry). When he lectured, he wasn’t just an educator, he shifted the way you thought.
Later, when I left Amerx, he was one of the first people to trust me with his new project, the IPED conference. That sums up who he was… he didn’t just talk about lifting others, he actually did it.
My experience isn’t unique. I’ve read many of the tributes written about him and most of the industry remembers him the same way. He mentored relentlessly, opened doors before anyone knew that door existed, and had the magic power to make you believe you were capable of absolutely anything. He connected people, challenged them to meet higher expectations, and always paid it forward.
I hope we won’t soon forget what he left for us in his legacy.
